Kuih-muih

I was not a huge fan of sweet food in terms of quantity but quality. I often have several small bites then stop eating. I love these kuih, they are perfect for teatime. This morning, these kuih were offered during office breakfast gathering and I had a crush with them.

Wiki: Kuih (also spelled Hokkien/Teochew: kueh or kway; from the Hokkien: 粿 koé, Indonesian: kue) are bite-sized snack or dessert foods commonly found in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia (where it is called kue), as well as the Southern China provinces of Fujian and Chaoshan, also in the Netherlands through its colonial link to Indonesia. Kuih is a fairly broad term which may include items that would be called cakes, cookies, dumplings, pudding, biscuit, or pastries in English and are usually made from rice or glutinous rice.

Hong Lim Teo Cheow Porridge

It was great to find colleagues for dinner after work, and to have Teo Cheow style porridge, we should not go alone but with a few friends as we could ordered many many different small portion dishes to eat with porridge or white rice. Three of us tends to eat more vege rather than meat, so it was a great combo to have many vege on the table!

Since my friend Christina recommended me this Vegetarian Indian cuisine, The Ganga Cafe, I have been coming back for many times. I have to say, "I love it!". So this time I brought Zinee to lunch here. As usual, I ordered Bhatura and Biryani rice Thali to share, and Zinee loved it. Everyone loves Ganga!

Sitka Restaurant

Once I savoured the Caprese ciabatta (local mozzarella, slow tomatoes, Thai basil) I ordered, I regret that I did not take photo of it. It tasted good and fresh. The ciabatta were well toasted, crunchy but not over. The flavours are well-balanced, with a hint of herb to highlight the whole sensation. I guessed I would be back for more.

I was not a sweet person, I was not so obsessed with desserts, but the girls were. They urged me to take photo of the meringue and blueberry tart and I submissively did. They were absolutely delicious with the right sweetness, and thus I loved them. The meringue had to be sweet compared to my palate needs, but it were just nice. I also loved the blueberry tart, it was sweet and not that sweet, definitely suited my palate. Oh, please check out the story behind Sitka from their website.

Mizuiro Ramen + Coffee

Mizuiro Ramen + Coffee made me feel at home. The noodle which made of wheat and rye is fresh and chewy, and the ramen soup was not heavy-taste but mild and smooth. Agedashi tofu is cut into small cubes and it was not overdressed till you only taste the sauce but the taste of tofu is dominant. Last but not least, the dessert Rose Blossom was yummy.
